With this Monday’s celebration of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, many folks around Bucks County are getting an extended weekend! We’ve put together a list of ways to take advantage of the long weekend, including a couple of opportunities to honor the holiday.

The James A. Michener Art Museum is providing unique opportunities to pay tribute to one of history’s most courageous and inspiring figures. The museum will host All Together Now, Martin Luther King Day of Service and Art, an afternoon featuring traditional and contemporary stories from African and African American oral and cultural traditions. Admission will be free on Sunday to celebrate this fantastic event which also provides visitors an opportunity to check out the A Time to Break Silence: Pictures of Social Change exhibit, featuring images of brave protest and revolutionary social change.

A Time to Break Silence: Pictures of Social Change at the Michener Art Museum

Celebrate the 50th anniversary of Martin Luther King Jr.’s groundbreaking and most controversial speech entitled, “Beyond Vietnam: A Time to Break Silence.” This exhibition surveys the modes in which visual culture documents protest, political transformations, and social change.

When: January 12 – 14, 10 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

64th Annual Antiques Show

The annual Antiques show at the Yardley Community Centre returns, displaying a variety of antiques including country to formal furniture, quilts and other textiles, primitives, country smalls, silver, glass, china, pottery, early dolls, jewelry and more. Come by and find some hidden treasures!

When: January 12 – 13, 11 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Live Music in 360! At Parx Casino

Parx Casino’s entertainment venue, 360, is hosting a night of live music performances, drink specials and dancing! Full Throttle, Drop Dead Sexy and DJ Capps are scheduled for January 12, while Buzzer Band, Don’t Call Me Francis and DJ Henz take over on January 13.

Create an All Together Now hexagon using a variety of art materials following the performance in honor of Martin Luther King Day. The Michener is offering free admission this Sunday, inviting everyone to experience this fantastic event. Reservations are required.
